If an incorrect blood type is determined for a blood donation and the unit is transfused into a patient with an incompatible type, a serious and potentially fatal transfusion reaction can occur. We go to extraordinary lengths to ensure that the correct blood type is determined for each donation, and is accurately labeled before release to our hospital customers.
